What It Means to Have a Designer Leading Your Project
Most people don’t realize why renovating and building is so stressful. They think it's because of the financial output, the dust and the inconvenience. Those things don't help, but the number one reason is the mental load created by endless decisions.
And I can tell you as someone who has been through a whole home renovation myself that the experience was more taxing on my marriage and life than the time I traveled around the world for 1.5 years on a shoestring with my husband.
At the heart of why a renovation was even more taxing than traveling is that the decisions are much more permanent, you are usually doing this on top of another job where you are already expected to be making decisions. And I can tell you that having someone by your side leading the creative vision and ensuring the execution of that vision will 1000% not only make your home more beautiful, but will make your life better during the process.
So what does it mean to have a designer leading your project?
I can tell you what it does not mean. It does not mean the clients get left out in the cold and won't have their vision respected. It doesn't mean the designer runs off and just does their thing.
What it does mean is that, before anything is planned or selected for the home, at Allito Spaces we get to know you extensively so that we can create the home you want.
Not only do we want to understand your stylistic preferences, but also what is your tolerance to maintenance, do you like to entertain and if so, what does that look like, what does your morning coffee routine look like, how tall are you, how do you make decisions.
The list is truly extensive, and this phase of the project is where we do ask you to put in a little bit of work so that we can then carry the load for you the rest of the way.
Once we have a deep understanding of our clients, we can then build the overall design direction and floorplans around how we want the home to feel and the way our clients actually live.
We put pen to paper to analyze flow and function and answer questions that would probably never occur to most people until construction is well underway, like how a door swing will affect the function of the room, where drapery will stack, how you can take advantage of the view from your bedroom and still watch TV.
All of this is determined before we start deciding on any materials, and well before the construction team would come looking for the answers.
At Allito, we're built for people with full lives and real taste, who want a home with character without managing every decision to get there. If you want a process you'll enjoy, reach out and let's talk about creating a home that's perfectly yours.
